Love Yourself

Hello Bonitas!

The warm weather is finished and the grey colour has arrived to the UK. Although, the summer was lovely and quite steady, like good films, it always comes to an end. Suddenly and as I write, memories of my first days in this country have come to my mind.

I arrived to London on the 9th of September 2000, this year I will be living here for 22 years. I can’t believe this, I can’t believe that my life has been, half of it in Colombia and the other half here in the UK.

Back in the days, I used to get home sick when the sky was grey, sadly, it’s means I was sad most of the time during my first winter. Saying that, I came to love seasons. I love transitioning from lovely colourful dresses to cosy jumpers and cool boots. It took me quite few years to get used to it but I love it now.

I became a mum in 2009 and it was the time I gave up working to become full-time housewife. It wasn’t easy and the liveable and fashionable woman disappeared. People used to complement my kids, their outfits, their accessories, their hairstyles were perfect. I was living a dream, playing dollies every day but, what about me? I left myself down, I forgot about me.

Well, to "make a story short" as my husband always say, it is only recently when I realised that “I am” the love of my life. That love starts from me and by loving myself I can love everyone else. Part of self-love is to look after myself, wear what I want, do my hair and makeup every day if I want to and that is how I also discovered my new passion: jewellery and accessories. I wear and play with earrings and belts, but I also encourage others to do so, because I genuinely believe it can lift up the spirit and the mood. At the end of the day, who doesn’t like to feel pretty and get a complement. The best complement that you could receive should come from you though, so accessorise yourself, look at the mirror and feel in love with the person you see in it.
